Recently on a white water rafting trip, in North Carolina, I had to visit Ashville’s renowned beer-only store, Bruisin’ Ales. The store features over 800 beers from brewer’s worldwide and has a very nice local brewer section. I decided to pick up something I probably would not find in NY so I went with Sweet Water’s 420 Extra Pale Ale from Atlanta, Georgia. Upon pouring, the beer had a golden copper hue with a nice bubbly head. It had a very nice smell of floral hoppiness(which was exactly what I was looking for), some citrus hints and bready malts. Overall, the beer was quite tasty and surprisingly reminded me of Sierra Nevada’s Pale Ale. The 420 Extra Pale Ale was very malting and had the perfect amount of hop taste. It was very drinkable but not too watery. I wish I had this regularly available, because it could quickly become a pale ale classic for me.
